The University of Newcastle upon Tyne is one of the UK's leading teaching and research universities, with a wide variety of undergraduate courses. We offer a large number of:

International Undergraduate Merit Scholarships (IUMS)for international students who study for their first degree atNewcastle. All applicants are considered, based on the informationgiven on their UCAS application form. This partial scholarship has avalue of £1,500 for the first year of study.

To be eligible for an IUMS scholarship, international students :

• Must haveapplied through UCAS before 30 June 2006 and been offered a place tostudy on one of our undergraduate degree programmes (except medicineand dentistry - applicants to these programmes are not eligible)
• Must have been assessed as overseas for fees purposes
• Have already achieved or will achieve an agreed level of academic performance in their pre-university qualifications
• Have already accepted or will accept Newcastle University as their first choice university.
