We offer a range of scholarships for international students of high academic standing.

Scholarships for international undergraduate students starting their studies in 2006

These scholarships take the form of a reduction in tuition fees for the successful applicants. You must be a national of, or domiciled in, the countries/territories listed.

Brunei - one undergraduate scholarship, worth £2,000 per annum, for up to three years of study.

China - five undergraduate scholarships, worth £2,000 per annum, for up to three years of study.

Gulf states (including Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and United Arab Emirates) - two undergraduate scholarships, worth £2,000 per annum, for up to three years of study.

Hong Kong - two undergraduate scholarships, worth £3,000 per annum, for up to three years of study.

India - five undergraduate scholarships, worth £2,000 per annum, for up to three years of study.

Kenya - three undergraduate scholarships, worth £2,000 per annum, for up to three years of study.

Malaysia - two undergraduate scholarships, worth £4,000 per annum, for up to three years of study.

Mauritius - one undergraduate scholarship, worth £3,500 per annum, for up to three years of study.

Nigeria - two undergraduate scholarships, worth £2,000 per annum, for up to three years of study.

Pakistan - two undergraduate scholarships, worth £2,000 per annum, for up to three years of study.

Singapore - two undergraduate scholarships, worth £4,000 per annum, for up to three years of study.

Sri Lanka - two undergraduate scholarships, worth £2,000 per annum, for up to three years of study.

USA - one undergraduate scholarship, worth £4,000 per annum, for up to three years of study.

International Baccalaureate - three undergraduate scholarships, worth £4,000 per annum, for up to three years of study, for international Baccalaureate Diploma holders.

Alumni Foundation Medical Scholarship - one scholarship, worth £3,500 per annum, for up to five years of study, for students on the Mb ChB programme. The Sheffield Alumni Foundation has generously assisted in funding this scholarship.

Eligibility and Application Procedures

You must:

1. Have applied for a study place at the University of Sheffield by 9 June 2006, and

2. Have obtained an offer of a study place at the University, in any subject area, for entry in September 2006, and

3. Have been classified as overseas for fee purposes, and

4. Have sufficient funds to support yourself and any dependants for the full duration of your programme of study.

You may apply for only one University of Sheffield International Scholarship 2006.

The International Office will automatically send scholarship applications forms to all eligible candidates who are offered a study place at the University.

Scholarship applications must be received by the International Office by the deadline of 7 July 2006.

Selection Criteria

The Scholarships will be awarded on academic merit, by a panel of academic selectors, on the basis of the UCAS form and any additional information submitted with the Scholarship application form.

Both past academic achievements and predicted examination results, where applicable, will be considered during the selection process.

The University reserves the right not to allocate the awards if the academic selection panel identifies no suitable candidates. We will inform you whether or not you have been successful by 21 July 2006.

Other Scholarships

The University of Sheffield offers scholarships to husbands and wives or brothers and sisters of current students or University of Sheffield graduates.

Students must be classified as overseas for fee purposes and commencing their studies at Sheffield in 2006.
