Thisscholarship supports undergraduate studies. Candidates with outstandingperformance for undergraduate studies will proceed to PhD uponsatisfactory completion of a minimum 1-year research attachment at oneof A*STAR's Research Institutes. This scholarship also extends supportfor the MBBS-PhD programme, which trains candidates in clinical andresearch skills.

• Candidates should have at least 4 distinctions in relevant 'A' level subjects and at least 1 'S' paper merit
• Candidates are expected to take SAT I (minimum score of 1400)and SAT II (minimum score of 2100). Those who have not taken SAT mayalso apply
• Candidates with the passion and excellence in science-related projects/activities will be preferred
• Open to Singapore Citizens and Permanent Residents, as well as Nationals of ASEAN countries*

* Successful candidates who are not Singapore Citizens are expected to take up Singapore citizenship

Successful candidates will be given support for up to 8 years of academic pursuit, leading to a PhD degree.

• Monthly overseas allowance (applicable only for the PhD component)
• Annual return airfare
• Computer allowance
• Warm clothing and settling-in allowance

*All rates/allowances vary according to country and university, and are subject to A*STAR adjustments from time to time

The NSS (BS) scholarshipcomes with a 6-year service commitment. There will be a minimum 1-yearcompulsory attachment at an A*STAR Research Institute between the BSand PhD studies. Upon completion, candidates will return to contributeto A*STAR's Research Institutes in Singapore for another 5 years.
