The Adelaide Achiever Scholarships International (AASI)
Up to 11 Adelaide Achiever Scholarships may be available tointernational students from any country undertaking study in anyacademic discipline*. Benefits are payment of 50% tuition fees for thenormal duration of the program.
* Scholarships awarded to students undertaking the Bachelor of Medicineand Bachelor of Surgery program are only available for the first fouryears.
Application Process
There is no separate application process for any of the abovescholarships. An application for admission to the University in 2006will constitute an application for a scholarship. All applications foradmission consistent with the eligibility and selection criteria willbe considered automatically for a scholarship.
An application fee of $50 must accompany the application for admission.This fee is waived for applications made through an IDP EducationAustralia office, or a nominated University representative overseas.
The deadlines for receipt of applications and complete supporting documentation are:
for the Bachelor of Medicine,
Bachelor of Surgery,
Bachelor of Dental Surgery and
Bachelor of Oral Health programs commencing Semester I, 2006 30 June 2005
for other academic programs commencing Semester I, 2006 1 December 2005
for academic programs commencing Semester II, 2006 30 April 2006
Successful Undergraduate scholarship recipients will be informed in January and in June 2006.
Conditions
* Scholarships will be awarded strictly on academicmerit. Extra- curricular achievements will not be considered.
* Since the AASI undergraduate scholarships areprimarily for school leavers, applicants who have commenced tertiarystudies at the time of application will not be considered.
* Scholarships are available only for the first degree in combined degree/double degree programs.
* Citizens and Permanent Residents of Australia, andcitizens of New Zealand are ineligible for any of the abovescholarships.
* Candidates are required to enrol in The Universityof Adelaide as "international students" and must maintain"international student" status for the duration of their enrolment inthe University.
* Candidates who have applied for Australian permanent resident status are ineligible to apply.
* Scholarships are available for the normal durationof the program, subject to satisfactory progress. Extensions beyond thenormal duration of the program are not available.
* All successful recipients will be required to pay their own Overseas Student Health Cover each year.
* Scholarships holders must commence study in TheUniversity of Adelaide in 2006. By negotiation, winners scheduled tocommence in Semester I, 2006 may defer until Semester II, 2006.Scholarship winners will not be permitted to defer commencement until2006.
