The University offers a number of Honoursscholarships each year. Eight ANU Honours Scholarships have been namedafter the late H C (Nugget) Coombs, one of which will be awarded to anapplicant of Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander descent.

Value

In 2005 each scholarship will be worth $5,000 with an additionalallowance of $4,500 for students who transfer their enrolment fromoutside the ACT to this University for Honours.

Eligibility

You should be intending to enrol full-time at this University in theHonours Year of a program of study leading to the award of the degreeof Bachelor with Honours or in the final year of a program ofstudy leading to the award of the degree of Bachelor with Honours wherethe honours component is an integral part of the final year (that is,Law, Engineering, Visual Arts and Music).

It is essential that you contact the Faculty or Schoolwhere you are proposing to undertake  Honours to establish that youhave or will have the academic qualifications for entry into Honoursand that the required resources will be available to you.

It is acknowledged that at this stage your acceptance into Honoursmay not yet be finalised. You do not need to wait for results beforelodging an application. If you lodge an application and later becomeineligible for Honours yourapplication will be disregarded.

With the approval of the relevant Faculty or School, you may commence the Honours Program in either first or second semester of the academic year.

International students are eligible to apply for ANU Honours Scholarships.

Subject to the approval of the University Awards Committee an ANUHonours Year Scholarship may be held concurrently with otherscholarships and awards.

It is advisable that you contact Centrelink to establish if an ANUHonours Scholarship can be held without affecting your Youth Allowanceor other benefit.

Applications for 2006 will open on 1 August and close on 31 October2005, the online form will be available here. If you intend to commenceyour Honours in second semester 2006 you will need to apply in theabove listed round. There is only one round of offers. If you are notalready a student at the ANU you must apply separately for admission tothe University.
