USA: International Student Scholarships, Grand Valley State University
Grand Valley State University offers generousscholarships to qualified international applicants. Available to bothundergraduate and graduate applicants, these scholarships wereestablished to recognize the high level of academic achievement ofstudents coming from throughout the world. Masters degree applicantswho present exceptional academic preparation and performance may beconsidered for a graduate assistantship, if available from the academicdepartment to which they are applying for admission. Recipients of aGraduate Assistantship are not eligible for scholarships.
It is recommended that international applicants applyfor admission and submit all required documentation by March 1 to beconsidered for a scholarship beginning with the Fall Semester. Thefollowing scholarships are available only to admitted internationalstudents new to Grand Valley. Full time enrollment and maintenance ofyour immigration status is required to renew the scholarship. If acertain grade point average is required from Grand Valley StateUniversity at the end of each year to renew the scholarship, it islisted below.
International Merit Scholarship:
Value: Difference between resident and non-resident tuition - totals approximately $6,000
Eligibility: An internationalapplicant must be a new student at Grand Valley State University, haveachieved the equivalent of an A/B (3.5 out of 4.0)grade average fromtheir previous academic work, and have at least 213 computer-basedTOEFL, 550 on the paper-based TOEFL or 80 on the Internet-based TOEFL.
Renewal: Recipient must maintain a 2.85 grade point average, maintain full-time enrollment, and maintain valid immigration status.
International Award of Distinction
Value: Difference between resident and non-resident tuition plus an additional $3,000 - totals approximately $9,000
Eligibility: An internationalapplicant must be new to Grand Valley State University, have achievedthe equivalent on an A- average (3.8 out of 4.0) from their previousacademic work, and have at least a 227 computer-based TOEFL, 567 on thepaper-based TOEFL, or 87 on the Internet-based TOEFL.
Renewal: Recipient must maintain a 3.25 grade pointaverage, maintain full-time enrollment, and maintain valid immigrationstatus.
Palau and Micronesia Scholarship
Value: Difference between resident and non-resident tuition - totals approximately $6,000
Eligibility: In honor of GrandValley alumnus and Palaun President, the Honorable Tommy Remengesau, aswell as other distinguished alumni living in Palau and the FederatedStates of Micronesia, a scholarship has been established. All admittedstudents from Palau and FSM will be considered for this scholarship. Three awards will be made annually to each country.
Renewal: Maintain valid academic standing.
Non-immigrant Dependant Scholarship
Value: Difference between resident and non-resident tuition - totals approximately $6,000
Eligibility: An applicant must hold a valid dependant A, E, G, H, K, L, TN, or V status and be admitted to Grand Valley.

Fine Arts and Music Scholarships
These scholarships are for students majoring in theFine Arts or Music Program at Grand Valley. Information and applicationforms for these scholarships is available upon request. Selection ofscholarship winners is made by a committee of fine arts/music facultymembers.
Athletic Scholarships
Exceptional student/athletes who compete in any ofthe following "varsity" sports could be eligible to be considered foran athletic scholarship:
Men's Teams - Football, Basketball, Baseball, Track, Cross-country running, Golf, Tennis, Swimming & Diving
Women's Teams - Soccer, Basketball, Softball, Track, Cross-country running, Golf, Tennis, Swimming & Diving, Volleyball
All scholarship decisions are made by the coaches. Ifyou feel that you have the athletic talent to be considered for anathletic scholarship, you will need to provide significant informationrelated to your performance, including statistics, recommendationletters, newspaper articles, video tapes and any other information thatcan show your level of athletic talent. This information should besubmitted by the December prior to the Fall of your intended enrollment.
