Applications are invited for a Graduate Assistantship in the geotechnical earthquake engineering area. The position is available for an outstanding, highly-motivated student at the Ph.D. level. Research emphasis will be on field and laboratory investigations in a broad range of geotechnical topics including (but not limited to): site characterization, in situ testing soil dynamics, liquefaction, probabilistic analysis, and earthquake hazard mapping. Assistantship includes a $16,000-$17,000 annual stipend, depending on qualifications, and a major reduction in tuition and fees.
Desired qualifications: M.S. degree in Civil or Geological engineering or related area with an interest in soil mechanics. Good oral and written skills in English are essential.
