University of Essex Scholarships

Applications are invited for University of Essex scholarships to support students starting a new postgraduate degree for 2005-2006 entry. The awards are primarily intended to support PhD students but support for Masters degrees is not excluded.

The fund, originally created in 2003-2004 and expected to rise to £650,000 by 2005-2006, is distributed to individual departments and centres of the University and allocated by them, generally in the form of an annual sum to be used as the student chooses, rather than as specific fee-waivers or bursaries. They can be held, in the case of PhD students, for up to three years and are designed for students who would be unable to take up a place without such funding assistance.

Only students who have applied for postgraduate admission at a department or centre of the University of Essex will be eligible and these scholarships are only tenable at Essex.
