UK: Research studentship in Hardware-in-the-loop Simulation for Jet Engines
We seek to recruit a project student who will work towards a doctoral thesis in the area of hardware-in-the-loop simulation and its applications to jet engines. Hardware-in-the-loop simulation is an important technique in investigating any real system behaviour prior to its deployment. Any system can be split into a number of components, with easy to model parts included as numerical models in the simulation and hard to model parts included as real hardware. This project aims to develop a set of hardware-in-the-loop simulations for evaluating performance of jet engine component parts and as a means of improving the overall performance of jet engines, in particular in terms of component lifespan and fuel efficiency.
The successful candidate will have a strong first degree (1st or 2:1) in mechanical engineering with good knowledge of classical control and thermofluids. Applicants must have good written and communication skills. Due to the nature of funding arrangements this position is only open to UK and EU nationals.
Further particulars may be obtained from this link or Mr C J Scotcher, The Senior Administrator, University of Oxford, Department of Engineering Science, Parks Road, Oxford, OX1 3PJ; to whom written applications should be made enclosing a curriculum vitae and the names and addresses of two referees.
Please quote DF05065 in all correspondence.
The closing date for applications is 23rd September 2005
