Three Postgraduate Research Scholarships in Economics

For New Research Students from September 2006

The Department of Economics is offering three Postgraduate ResearchScholarships to new research students from September 2006.

These scholarships will cover tuition fees at the home rate and amaintenance grant at approximately the same rate as the ResearchCouncils. Holders of the scholarships, as part of their researchtraining, may be expected to teach a maximum of 6 hours per week.

The scholarships will be offered for one year in the first instance,renewable for a maximum of three years, subject to satisfactory academicprogress.

Selection Criteria
The candidates must hold an excellent Bachelor’s (1 or 2.1), or Master’sdegree (merit or distinction).

Applications should include:
- research proposal
- CV (including a contact email address)
- covering letter
- two academic references
- your proposed course of study andqualification
- official confirmation of your degree results.

However, official confirmation of your degree results should be mailedto the Departmental Executive Officer at the address below. Photocopiesof these documents are not acceptable.

The closing date for receipt of applications is Monday 31 July 2006.

Candidates are reminded that an application will not be considered untilall documents have been received. It is the candidate’s responsibilityto ensure that all documents, including references, are received by theDepartmental Executive Officer by the closing date of 31 July 2006.
