PhD Study Opportunities 2007/2008

The University invites applications for admission to full-time research studies commencing in September 2007. A number of awards will be available for selected applicants.

Research supervision leading to the degree of Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) is offered in the following subjects:

Science, Engineering and Information Technology
Biomedical Sciences, Built Environment, Environmental Sciences, Computer Science, Metallurgy & Materials, Nursing, Psychology, Health Sciences

Social Sciences
Business & Management Studies, Education, Law, Politics & International Studies, Social Policy & Social Work, Sports Related Subjects

Arts and Humanities
Art & Design, Celtic Studies, English, French, German, Spanish, History, Linguistics, Media Studies, Music, Drama, Dance & Performing Arts, European Studies

Master of Research (MRes)
A one-year full-time programme leading to the award of Master of Research is offered in the areas of Arts, Biomedical Sciences and Environmental Studies. It is anticipated that awards will be available for selected applicants.

Part-time Study
Applications to undertake part-time study towards the degrees of Master of Clinical Research (MClinRes), Doctor of Philosophy and a range of professional doctorates are also welcomed by the University.

How to Apply
To be considered for entry, applicants should hold, or expect to hold by 15 August 2007 a first or upper second class honours degree in a subject relevant to the proposed research topic. The closing date for the receipt of applications for full-time study and associated awards will be 30 March 2007

Interviews will form part of the selection process and are likely to be held during the period late April to early May 2007. Selected applicants will be contacted with further details shortly after the closing date.
