Studies on microtubule end-binding proteins
Supervisor: Dr Ewan Morrison
A graduate studentship is available in the Cancer Cell Biology Group in theCancer Research UK Clinical Centre at St James’s University Hospital inLeeds. The overall aim of the work of this group is to investigate the roleplayed by microtubule-associated proteins during mitosis and migration inmammalian cells, particularly by proteins found at microtubule ends. Theproject is likely to involve a variety of molecular biology techniques, cellculture and transfection, live cell and confocal microscopy and protein_expression and purification.
You should have a relevant first degree at a standard of 2:1 or above. Aworking knowledge of the cytoskeleton would be advantageous, as wouldexperience in cell culture or microscopy techniques. More important,however, is a committed and enthusiastic approach to scientific research.
