The Institute of Advanced Telecommunications (IAT) is a fast-growingresearch institute established in 2005, partly-funded by the EuropeanRegional Development Fund, through the Welsh Assembly Government. IATscientists conduct research in several areas of communications, includingOptical, Wireless, and Networking. IAT is currently seeking a number of ambitious overseas PhD students toperform research in these areas. Candidates should have, or be about toreceive, an honours degree (at least II.1 or equivalent) in ElectricalEngineering, Computer Science, Physics, or a related discipline.
Studentships are available for 3 years and include a stipend of £12,300 peryear (current 2006/7 rate) and home/EU tuition fees of £3,168 (Total valueof studentship is £15,468). This should cover tuition fees (£11,070 in thecase of International students for 2007 entry) and a part towards students’living expenses. International applicants are requested to supply evidenceof additional funding to cover other expenses during the period of study.
