The School of Management’s Centre for Women Business Leaders seeks one or two full-time doctoral students to extend the Centre’s work on gender diversity at senior levels in organisations.

The Centre welcomes applications from those with relevant backgrounds, particularly those with psychology and sociology degrees. Successful candidates are likely to have, or be currently completing, a Master’s degree and have some relevant work experience.

Studentships are available on a competitive basis for full-time UK, EU or international candidates, which provide fees and sometimes a maintenance grant of up to £12,300.

The Centre is renowned for its Female FTSE Index benchmarking the progress of women onto corporate boards, but also undertakes research into senior women’s careers, the relationship between gender diversity and good corporate governance, as well as corporate interventions to address the diversity talent pipeline.

The closing date for applications is 30 June 2006. ESRC studentships are also available for good candidates who satisfy UK residence conditions (see the ESRC’s website http://www.esrc.ac.uk); for these, the earlier deadline of 24 April applies.
