UK: PhD Studentship in Signal Processing and Embedded Programming
The School of Electronics invites applications for a full-time research studentship leading to the award of PhD in the area of:
Signal Processing and Embedded Programming
from applicants with good honours degrees in Engineering/Physics/Applied Sciences/Maths/Computing or other related numerate subjects.
The applicant will be registered normally for MPhil, progressing to PhD as soon as possible after the first year, and completing his/her PhD after 3 years of research working on the project:
* Investigation of a DSP algorithm for processing in real-time frequency modulated Laser Doppler Signals (Ref: RTMS1).
Successful candidate will, subject to a satisfactory annual review, be paid a maintenance bursary of £9,000 per annum, and have his/her research course fees paid by the School (£3,010) per annum. In the case of overseas students, he/she will have his/her fees paid by the school (£8,915) and receive a bursary of £5,645 per annum. In addition, the School of Electronics has a policy of engaging research students as part time lecturers/demonstrators where possible.
The successful candidate will join an internationally recognised research group with excellent research facilities. We have strong collaboration with industry, research laboratories and other academic institutions. On attaining the PhD, the research experience gained will provide an excellent basis for a career in industry and academia.
