UK: PhD Studentship in Molecular Cell Biology, University of Hertfordshire
Applications are invited for a three year PhD studentship availablefrom October 2006 to investigate the regulation of expression andfunction of the inducible L-arginine-nitric oxide pathway in culturedvascular cells.
The University of Hertfordshire’s Studentship is offered with aBursary for three years, which is in the region of £12,300 p.a.
The aim is to define the signalling mechanism(s) that regulate theinduction of both nitric oxide synthase and the cationic amino acidtransport proteins associated with uptake of L-arginine into cells.Applicants should therefore have a keen interest in cell signallingand molecular biological, and have an MSc or a first or upper secondclass honours degree in a relevant subject. Experience in cell cultureand basic molecular techniques including qPCR and protein biochemistrywill be a distinct advantage.
