Electromagnetic Sensing and Imaging for the Smart Detection of Guns and KnivesSystems Engineering Group, School of Computing and Engineering
A PhD studentship is available to work in the area of electromagneticsensing and imaging for the Smart Detection of Guns and Knives. Thestudent will work closely with one EPSRC funded research associate andthe project will be run in conjunction with the Universities ofHuddersfield and Manchester, Queen Mary University London and LeedsMetropolitan University.
The project will involve researching and developing electromagneticsensor arrays and signal processing algorithms for remote metaldetection and the identification of concealed guns and knives.
You should have a good degree in mathematics, physics or electronics.You would be considered to be advantageous if having relevant anddemonstrable research experience and some publications oninternational journals or conferences.
We also have other studentship posts in the research group in the areaof electromagnetic modelling and non-destructive testing & evaluation.Candidates, from the EU, should hold a 1st class or high upper secondclass UK honours degree (or any EU equivalent) in Physics, ElectronicEngineering or a related discipline, non-EU students may also applyfor studentship(s).
The studentship(s) are offered averagely at the rate of £12,000 peryear, plus tuition fees. The post is available immediately.
