This studentship, sponsored by Lloyd’s of London and based in the Faculty of Actuarial Science and Insurance, offers a unique opportunity for an exceptional candidate to carry out leading edge research, whilst also gaining experience in the world’s leading specialist insurance market.

Applicants should have a Master’s degree, preferably with distinction, in Finance, Mathematics, Actuarial Science, Economics or a closely related discipline; or equivalent.

The successful candidate will be expected to demonstrate strong mathematical and analytical skills, with the ability to work both independently and as part of a team. Effective ommunication in academic and business environments is essential. Previous experience in research or insurance/financial services would be desirable.

The bursary will cover full tuition fees and a maintenance grant of £17,000 per annum (payable monthly) over 42 months with effect from 1 October 2007 or as soon as possible thereafter.
