PhD Studentships 2007, Department of Chemistry
A number of fully funded PhD studentships will be available to start in July 2007 in the Department of Chemistry at Loughborough University. The studentships will cover tuition fees at the UK/EU rate and will provide a maintenance grant at Research Council rates (ca. £12,300 p.a.).
Studentships will be available in all branches of the subject including analytical chemistry, environmental chemistry, structural and synthetic inorganic and materials chemistry, physical chemistry, radiochemistry, organic synthesis and medicinal/biological chemistry.
The department possesses excellent facilities for research including a 500 MHz solid state NMR and two 400 MHz multinuclear NMR spectrometers, high resolution mass spectrometry, ICP-MS, HPLC, elemental analysis and three X-ray diffractometers. Research is conducted in modern laboratories and the university has recently invested heavily in the department with new professorial, lecturer and research fellow appointments.
