UK: PhD Opportunities in Earth and Atmospheric Sciences, The University of Leeds


The School of Earth and Environment at the University of Leeds is currently advertising PhD Projects for 2007/8. Please see the web page www.see.leeds.ac.uk for details.

Our research interests span studies of the Earth, the hydrosphere and the atmosphere, and issues of environmental management and sustainability. Research is grouped into four Institutes:

  • Institute for Atmospheric Science (IAS)
  • Institute of Geological Sciences (IGS)
  • Institute of Geophysics and Tectonics (IGT)
  • Sustainability Research Institute (SRI)


We expect to recruit around 40 PhD students for October 2007. A range of studentships are available. The deadline for NERC Quota award applications is February 26th for Earth Sciences (IGS/IGT) and March 12th for Atmospheric Sciences (IAS).
