PhD Bursaries (3 years, full fees and 12.000 pounds maintenance grantp.a.)
The University of Portsmouth, Centre for European and International StudiesResearch, offers bursaries (full fees and 12.000 pounds maintenance grantp.a.) for PhD research in one of its priority areas.
One of the priority areas is TRANSNATIONAL EUROPE where applicants would belikely to work under the supervision of Professor Wolfram Kaiser.Transnational Europe encompasses, in particular, new approaches tounderstanding EUROPEAN UNION HISTORY from supranational and transnationalperspectives as a more broadly-based process of European (political) societyformation. Thematic areas covered include, for example, the history ofsupranational institutions, transnational elite networks in the integrationprocess, Europeanisation effects of integration etc. Also included in thispiority area is the HISTORY OF GLOBALISATION and the role of modern Europewithin this process, especially globalisation from a politico-culturalperspective of cultural representations (world exhibitions etc.) andinternational communication about its desired effects and consequences.Applications with another focus, but related to the larger theme ofTransnational Europe, are also welcome.
