UK: MSc Studentships in Remote Sensing and Spatial Analysis, University of Southampton

The MSc programme is an innovative inter-disciplinary learning opportunity that combines the areas of remote sensing and spatial analysis, topics in which there is considerable expertise across several parts of the University and partner organisations. Along with the basic introductory units to meet the needs of students who have limited previous experience, this programme also offers a range of advanced and specialist units (e.g., Earth Observation of Terrestrial or Oceanic Environment, Health, Environmental Management).

You will also complete a research project on a topic at the forefront of remote sensing and spatial analysis. It may be possible for the project to be undertaken in association with and, if appropriate, based at major organisations involved in remote sensing (e.g. Rutherford Appleton Laboratory, RAL or the National Oceanographic Centre, NOC) and spatial analysis (e.g. Ordnance Survey, OS).

Eligibility:
Applicants are expected to have at least a good second class honours degree in a relevant subject (eg. a pure or applied sciences, technology, or appropriate social science subject). Applicants with other, equivalent, qualifications or appropriate experience will be considered on an individual basis.

Funding:
For 2007-08, four EPSRC scholarships are available which include the tuition fees and a maintenance grant. These scholarships are only available to UK students. Selections are mainly based on the students’ academic records and the personal statement. If you need to apply for this scholarship you should clearly mention this in your application form and your personal statement in a covering letter. You should submit your complete application by 15th June 2007
