UK: Erasmus Mundus MA in Special Education Needs
The European Commission has approved the MA in Special Education Needs which will be offered by a consortium of Roehampton University, London, UK; Fontys University of Professional Education, Tilburg, The Netherlands and Charles University, Prague, Czech Republic. All three universities have a global reputation in the field of Education and Special Education.
The programme will commence 1st September 2006 and there are generous scholarships available for tuition and living expenses (EURO 24.200,-) for highly qualified third-country graduate students (a national of a third county other than those from EEA-EFTA States and candidate countries for accession to the EU; who has already obtained a first higher education degree; who is not a resident of any of the Member States; who has not carried out his or her main activity for more than a total of 12 months over the last five years in any of the Member States or the participating countries; and who has been accepted to register or is registered in the Erasmus Mundus SEN course. There are also 3-4 scholar grants worth EURO 13.000 for scholars to carry out teaching and research assignments and scholarly work in the participating instutitions.
This programme is unique globally as it encompasses different perspectives on SEN in Europe. It has been designed to encourage students to develop their experiences that can then be considered within their “home†context. It is intended as a by-product of this Masters Programme that an international annual conference will be convened, at which research findings and data relating to SEN will be disseminated.
