UK: Doctoral Studentships UNESCO Centre for Comparative Education Research School of Education
Two doctoral studentships are available at the UNESCO Centre forComparative Education Research, School of Education, the University ofNottingham. These studentships offer full overseas student fees, togetherwith an annual stipend of �5,000 each. These are available for a period ofthree years from 30 January 2006 or as soon as possible thereafter.
The UCCER is interested in applications from students interested incomparative and international research in the following areas:
- The political economy of educational policy and planning, including responses to internal and external factors (including globalisation, the knowledge economy, HIV/AIDS and post-conflict situations).
- Private higher education in developing countries.
- Education, identity and citizenship.
- Rural societies and educational attainment.
- The role of post-school education and training in sustainable rural development.
- Anthropological perspectives on education, especially indigenous knowledge systems, local knowledge and Education for all.
- Child labour and access to education.
Students should hold the equivalent of a first or upper second UK Bachelordegree and a UK Masters degree and must provide evidence of competence inEnglish e.g. a minimum IELTS score of 7.0 (with 6.0 on the written test) orequivalent.
These studentships are competitive, but preference will be given to studentsfrom low-income or middle-income countries.
