Scholarships for international postgraduate students starting their studies in 2006

These scholarships take the form of a reduction in tuition fees for the successful applicants. You must be a national of, or domiciled in, the countries/territories listed below.

Canada - one Postgraduate Taught Masters Scholarship, worth £2,000, for one year of study.

Gulf states (including Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and United Arab Emirates) - one Postgraduate Taught Masters Scholarship, worth £2,000, for one year of study.

India - six Postgraduate Taught Masters Scholarships, worth £2,000 each, for one year of study.

Indonesia - one Postgraduate Taught Masters Scholarship, worth £2,500, for one year of study.

Iran - one Postgraduate Taught Masters Scholarship, worth £2,000, for one year of study.

USA - one Postgraduate Taught Masters Scholarship, worth £3,000, for one year of study.

Eligibility and Application Procedures

You must:

1. Have applied for a study place at the University of Sheffield by 9 June 2006, and

2. Have obtained an offer of a study place at the University, in any subject area, for entry in September 2006, and

3. Have been classified as overseas for fee purposes, and

4. Have sufficient funds to support yourself and any dependants for the full duration of your programme of study.

You may apply for only one University of Sheffield International Scholarship 2006.

The International Office will automatically send scholarship applications forms to all eligible candidates who are offered a study place at the University.

Scholarship applications must be received by the International Office by the deadline of 7 July 2006.

Selection Criteria

The scholarships will be awarded on academic merit, by a panel of academic selectors, on the basis of the postgraduate application form and any additional information submitted with the scholarship application form.

Both past academic achievements and predicted examination results, where applicable, will be considered during the selection process.

The University reserves the right not to allocate the awards if the academic selection panel identifies no suitable candidates. We will inform you whether or not you have been successful by 21 July 2006.

Other Scholarships

The University of Sheffield offers scholarships to husbands and wives or brothers and sisters of current students or University of Sheffield graduates.

Students must be classified as overseas for fee purposes and commencing their studies at Sheffield in 2006.
