Scholarships on offer in 2005
The scholarships listed below will take the form of a reduction in tuition fees for the successful applicants. Applicants must be nationals of, or domiciled in, the countries/territories listed below.

Canada - one postgraduate taught Masters scholarship worth £2,000 for one year of study.

India - five postgraduate taught Masters scholarships worth £2,000 for one year of study.

Indonesia - one postgraduate taught Masters scholarship worth £2,500 for one year of study.

Iran - one postgraduate taught Masters scholarship worth £2,000 for one year of study

Japan - two postgraduate taught Masters scholarships worth £2,500 for one year of study.

Jordan - one postgraduate taught Masters scholarship worth £2,000 for one year of study

Korea - two postgraduate taught Masters scholarships worth £2,500 for one year of study.

Latin America (including Mexico)- three postgraduate taught Masters scholarships worth £2,500 each, for one year of study, for students from any Latin American country.

Libya - one postgraduate taught Masters scholarship worth £3,000 each, for one year of study.

Malaysia - two postgraduate taught Masters scholarships worth £3,000 each, for one year of study.

Singapore - one postgraduate taught Masters scholarship worth £2,000 for one year of study.

Taiwan - two postgraduate taught Masters scholarship worth £2,500 for one year of study.

Thailand - two postgraduate taught Masters scholarships worth £3,000 for one year of study.

USA - one postgraduate taught Masters scholarships worth £3,000 for one year of study.

Vietnam - one postgraduate taught Masters scholarship worth £2,000 for one year of study

Eligibility and Application Procedures

  • Applications for the above scholarships may be submitted by students who:
  1. Have applied for a study place at the University of Sheffield by 1 June 2005, and
  2. Have obtained an offer of a study place at the University, in any subject area, for entry in September 2005, and
  3. Have been classified as overseas for fee purposes, and
  4. Have sufficient funds for their maintenance and that of any dependants for the full dureation of their program of study.
  • Students are only eligible to apply for one University of Sheffield International Scholarship 2005.

  • Scholarship application forms will be sent automatically from February 2005, by the International Office, to all eligible candidates who obtain an offer of a study place at the University
  • Scholarship applications must be received by the International Office by the deadline of
    1 July 2005

Selection Criteria

  • The scholarships will be awarded on academic merit, by a panel of academic selectors, on the basis of the graduate application form, relevant course transcripts and any additional information submitted with the scholarship application form.

  • Both past academic achievements and predicted degree results, where applicable, will be considered during the selection process.
  • The University reserves the right not to allocate the awards if no suitable candidates are identified by the academic selection panel.
