The University of Groningen awardsapproximately 90 Ubbo Emmius scholarships every year for internationalstudents and staff, mainly at PhD level and for staff members.Selection for Ubbo Emmius is primarily based on scientific merits. Forfurther information, click here.
Eric Bleumink Fund
The Eric Bleumink Fund of the University of Groningen providesfinancial support to Master's degree students and PhD researchers for amaximum of 2 years.For the PhD candidates, part of the research willtake place in the country of origin. Netherlands Fellowship Programme
The Netherlands Fellowship Programmes (NFP) aredemand-driven fellowship programmes designed to foster capacitybuilding within organizations in 57 development countries by providingtraining and education to their mid-career staff members. For furtherinformation, see the NUFFIC website.
RUG PhD Fellowship Programme
The RUG PhD-FellowshipProgramme is a so-called "sandwich" programme that enables juniorresearchers to do part of their PhD research at the University of Groningen for periods of a maximum of six months each year within a four-year period. Candidatesfrom a university that has signed a cooperation agreement with ourUniversity will be given preferential treatment. More information,check the website.

At PhD level are only awarded to staff members of the strategic partner universities.

Latin America
For young (up to 40 years of age) researchers and professors from Latin American universities the University of Groningen awards 2 scholarships of the Programmes for Young professors and researchers from Latin American universities to do part of their research at the University of Groningen during a period of maximum 90 days. The application deadline for the scholarships for the academic year 2006-2007 is

Scholarships from the Alban Programme coverstudies for postgraduate (Master and PhD) as well as higher trainingfor Latin American professionals, in institutions or centres in theEuropean Union. South-East Europe and the Ukraine
For young reserachers from Croatia, Servia-Montenegro, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Macedonia, Albania en the Ukraine, the University of Groningen also awards 2 Coimbra Hospitality Scheme scholarships to do part of their research at the University of Groningen during a period of maximum 90 days.
