The Netherland: Scholarships for Master’s programmes at the University of Groningen


Several scholarships are available for international students whoare motivated to study Bachelor's programmes, Master's programmes, PhDprogrammes, but also for Exchange at our University. The University of Groningen provides scholarships, like the Ubbo Emmius scholarships for PhD'sprogrammes, but also the Dutch Government (NUFFIC) or the EuropeanUnion enable international students to study at the University of Groningen .Three of the university's master's programmes have been awarded ErasmusMundus status by the European Commission. Staff members oforganizations in developing countries can apply for NFP scholarships,an initiative of the Dutch government.

Erasmus Mundus

Three of the university's Master's programmes have been awarded Erasmus Mundus status by the European Commission;

- Humanitarian Assistance (NOHA)

- Clinical Linguistics

- Euroculture

This qualification underlines the high qualityand special character of these three Master's programmes. As well, itgives students from outside the EU the opportunity to apply for a grantof up to € 21.000 a year to follow one of these programmes. Reimbursement of tuition fee for EU-students!

Students from EU countries are also entitled to get a (partly)reimbursement of their tuition fees. Besides, they are entitled to getother study grants subsidized by the EU. For more information, checkthis website.

Huygens Scholarship Programme

In the 2006-2007 academic year, a new Huygens Scholarship Programme(HSP) will start. The current Huygens programme and the TalentProgramme will be absorbed into this new programme. HSP is targeted atinternational students and researchers who want to study or undertakeresearch in the Netherlands (Huygens International Programme) and at Dutch students and researchers who want to gain some international study or research experience (Huygens Talent Programme).HSP is a global programme: students and researchers from any country inthe world can apply for a scholarship. As soon as the details of theapplication procedure and requirements for HSP 2006-2007 are known,they will be posted on the NUFFIC website.

DELTA (Dutch Education: Learning at Top Level Abroad)
Thisis a scheme that enables Dutch higher education institutions to awardscholarships to students from Brazil, China, India, Indonesia,Malaysia, Mexico, Taiwan, Thailand, Russia, Vietnam and South Africa.DELTA scholarships cover the costs of studying in the Netherlands .Academic year 2006-2007 is the last year that DELTA will continue inits current form. The Netherlands FellowshipProgrammes (NFP) are demand-driven fellowship programmes designed tofoster capacity building within organizations in 57 developmentcountries by providing training and education to their mid-career staffmembers. For further information, see the NUFFIC website.

Eric Bleumink Fund
The Eric Bleumink Fund (EBF) of the University of Groningenprovides financial support to Master's degree students and PhDresearchers for a maximum of 2 years. A list of countries which are considered developing countries can be found on the internet. More information, see the website.

World Bank
The Scholarship Program and the Fellowships Program are vehiclesfor knowledge sharing and capacity building in the developing world.The Programs provide opportunities for graduate studies leading tomaster's degree in development-related fields for mid-careerprofessionals from the World Bank member countries, eligible to borrow. 
 

Indonesia

StuNed  
Availablefor Indonesian professionals and students with working experience of atleast two years in a development related organization. StuNed offers scholarships to follow master courses, short courses or tailor made programmes. The Alban Programme
This programme covers studies forpostgraduate (Master and PhD) as well as higher training for LatinAmerican professionals, in institutions or centres in the EuropeanUnion. Jean Monnet

Fulbright Scholarship

Federal Family Education Loan Program (FFELP)
The FFELP is a federal education loan program designed to helpstudents pay their educational expenses by supplementing the amount thestudent or student's family is able to contribute to education costs.The loans within FFELP include Stafford Loans (subsidized andunsubsidized).
