A PhD student position is available from April 1, 2006 at the Chair ofNumerical Analysis and Simulation (iacs.epfl.ch/asn), EcolePolytechnique Federale de Lausanne, Switzerland.

The successful candidate should have a Master’s degree in TheoreticalPhysics or Mathematics and possibly experience in programming andscientific computing.

He or she will work in the field of mathematical modeling and numericalanalysis of partial differential equations. The subject pertains toMagnetHydroDynamics (MHD) for Aluminum production in the frameset of anindustrial project with the Alcan-Pechiney company.

Teaching duties include 4 hours per week. We offer a net salary ofapproximately 40 000 swiss francs per year.
