Sweden: International Master Program on Global Jurnalism
The master in Global Journalism is a two-year programme forjournalists wanting to further their journalistic knowledge and skillsfocusing on international news reporting. The programme has a globalfocus and brings together professional journalists from Africa, Asia,North and South America, and North and Eastern Europe. The student'svarying experience from different countries, cultures and media providethe basis for a discussion on differences in work practice and ethics,and shared problems and challenges for the journalistic profession. Theprogramme is offered in cooperation with journalism educations inDenmark, Finland, and Norway, and parts of the programme are given atuniversities in these countries. The language of instruction is English.
The programme has a special focus on new information andcommunication technologies (ICTs) and their relevance for investigativejournalism, media and development, war and peace journalism, and EUreporting. The programme also involves an extensive independent projectin the form of either a traditional academic essay, or an in-depthjournalistic production.
A student who terminate the programme after the third semester willbe awarded a Swedish Magisterexamen (provided that the student havefulfilled the course requirements).
The programme is offered given that necessary decisions are made.

Requirements
Theapplicant must have a completed Bachelor degree, comparable to aSwedish Bachelor degree, from an institution of higher education ofthree years or more. The Bachelor degree must be in a social science ora humanities subject.
The applicant must also have at least two years of professional journalistic experience.
The applicant must have knowledge in English.If the applicant's first language is not English, knowledge in Englishmust be documented by an internationally recognised proficiency test.See the following link for information on the different proficiencytest and their required minimum scores for eligibility.
Selection
Theselection of the qualified applicants is based on the applicant'swritten personal statement, the applicant's Bachelor degree,professional experience, or other experience, and letter ofrecommendation.
Submit
All documents listed belowand the appendix must be attached to the application form. You find theapplication form on the page with information on how to apply.
- Officially certified copies of your original graduation diplomaand transcripts from the upper secondary school issued in the officiallanguage.
- Completed Bachelor degree, comparable to a Swedish Bachelordegree, from an institution of higher education of three years or more.Submit both diploma and transcript issued in the official language.Please note that if you are a citizen of a country other than a Nordicor EU/EEA country your university diploma and transcripts must be sentdirectly to Örebro University from your university in a separate sealedofficial envelope. This separate sealed official envelope from theuniversity can also be placed in the envelope with your applicationform and other necessary documents.
- Certificate of English proficiency test if your first language is not English.
- Documents confirming two years of professional journalistic experience.
- Letter of recommendation.
A professional recommendation from asenior media colleague or journalism educator, discussing yourproficiency as a journalist, and how the organisation would benefitfrom you attending the course.
- Written personal statement.
The written personal statement mustbe no less than one and no more than two pages. In thisstatement you shall reflect on how the new information- andcommunication technologies (ICTs) have affected/might affect thejournalistic profession in your country as well as globally. Youshall also describe your expectations on the programme, why you want toattend the programme, and how you believe you would benefit from it inthe future. Finally, specify a topic for a proposed Master's project.
- All documents must also be translated into English and issued bythe official educational authorities (or a notary public) in yourcountry.

Scholarships
There are a limited number of full scholarshipson offer from the Swedish Development Agency and the Swedish Institutefor needy and deserving students. These cover travel, accomodation,insurance and other living expenses during the time spent in Sweden.Application for scholarships are made on the appendix to attach to theapplication form.
