Scottish International Scholarship Programme
Are you a permanent resident ofChina, India, South Africa, Australia, New Zealand or Singapore whowould like to study for a Masters in Scotland?
The Scottish Executive is offering 22 scholarships for students fromthese countries during the academic year 2006/7. The scholarships areavailable for courses at any Scottish higher education institution andapplications for science and technology and creative industries will begiven priority.

What does the scholarship cover?
The scholarship covers the tuition fees, return economy airfare and a living allowance.
The following subject areas will be given priority:
- science and technology
- creative industries (including arts, design and culture).
The course must be:
- a Masters programme of not more than 12 months
- based in a Scottish higher education institution
- during the academic year 2006/7.
You must meet the following criteria to apply:
- be a permanent resident of People's Republic of China (excluding Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan) / India / South Africa / Australia / New Zealand / Singapore and be in your home country at the time of application
- be between 25 and 35 years old at the time of application.
- have between 3 and 5 years relevant working experience
- have a good working level of English demonstrated by an IELTS test result of at least 6.5 on the academic module with no individual band less than 6.0
- not currently be working or studying in the UK
- not be in receipt of any other scholarships or award for the academic year 2006/7
- hold a good first degree in a related subject from a recognised university
- not have received UK government funding in the past

How to Apply
1. Please ensure that you meet eligibility criteria specified for the scholarship.
2. Search for postgraduate courses in Scotland.

2. Apply directly to the Scottish institution(s) before applying for a Scotland Scholarship.
You must apply to Scottish institution(s) of your choice beforeapplying for the Scotland Scholarships. Please attach evidence of yourapplication to a maximum of 3 Scottish institutions to your scholarshipapplication form. The scholarship offer will be subject to obtaining aconfirmed offer of admission from one of the three chosen institutionsby no later than 31 May 2006.
4. Download the Scotland Scholarship 2006 application forms and complete it.
Please note the following when applying:
- there is a single application form for 2006 entry
- you should use block capitals and black ink to complete the form or type your response.
- your application form must include your current contact address, email, telephone/mobile and fax numbers.
- all sections of the application form must be completed asincomplete forms will not be considered. If some sections in the formare not relevant to the programme you are applying for, please writeN/A (not applicable) as your response instead of leaving it blank.
- you must attach all the necessary documents and attachmentsincluding 2 passport size photographs as mentioned in the checklist atthe back of the application form.
- you must sign the declaration on the application form
- application forms are also available from your nearest British Council office.
5. Courier or hand-deliver your application to reach your nearest British Council office by 17th March 2006. Please write clearly on the envelope ‘Application for Scotland Scholarships 2006.'
Additional Notes
1.We will not acknowledge the receipt of your application(s).
2.We will only inform the shortlisted candidates. Applicantsare requested not to contact the British Council office directly.
3.Shortlisted candidates will be interviewed in a British Counciloffice, between March and April 2006. Candidates will be expected tomake their own travel and accommodation arrangements. We will notreimburse any costs incurred in this respect.
4.The results of interviews will be announced a week after the interview. The decision of the selection committee will be final.
5.Pre-departure briefings, visa formalities and travel arrangementsfor the selected candidates will be co-ordinated by the BritishCouncil.
6.The programmes will commence in the UK in the academic year beginning September/October 2006.
