Scholarships covering UK/EUtuition fees are available to students who intend to undertake one ofthe following Masters programmes at the University of Plymouthcommencing in September 2005. Scholarships are available for eitherfull or part time study.

The machine used a tertiary calculatingmodel)

(*Alan Turing (1912-1954) was a Britishmathematician and is considered to be one of the fathers of ArtificialIntelligence. He provided an influential formalisation of the conceptof algorithm and computation: the Turing machine. He formulated the nowwidely accepted Church-Turing thesis, namely that every other practicalcomputing model had either the equivalent or a subset of thecapabilities of a Turing machine. During World War II he headed asuccessful effort of breaking the German secret code. After the war, heworked with one of the earliest digital computers, and later heprovided a provocative contribution to the discussion 'Can machinesthink?')
