Its most eminent professors over the years have included themathematician Francesco Brioschi (its first Director), Luigi Cremona,and Giulio Natta (Nobel Prize in Chemistry in 1963). The Politecnico diMilano is now ranked as one of the most outstanding Europeanuniversities in Engineering, Architecture and Industrial Design, and inmany disciplines is regarded as a leading research institutionworldwide.
The Master of Science is awarded after two more years of study andaims to provide rigorous, advanced training in more highly specializedareas. Those who already have a B.Sc. in a different field or haveattended a vocational school and want to obtain a M.Sc. certificatemust first obtain the necessary credits.
It is important to note that some specific study courses in Italycontinue to be five-year courses in order to comply with EU regulationsand to obtain official recognition.

> 35 scholarships of 4.000€ for foreign students applying to Master of Science programmes held in Milano Campus (Leonardo or Bovisa). The scholarships will be used to cover accommodation costs with one of the Student Residences with which the Politecnico di Milano has signed specific agreements.
