Postgraduate students at UNE can apply for a number of substantialscholarship opportunities at UNE. Supervisors will also advise you onother ways of pursuing funding and support for your research.

Scholarship Types

Scholarships may be targeted to a specific discipline, research projector applicant type, or may be general scholarship with broad eligibilitycriteria. UNE offers scholarships for a range of purposes, including:

Living allowance
These provide a student with a stipend or living allowance that ispaid fortnightly. At UNE these scholarships are generally for studentsenrolled in research higher degrees eg. PhD or other doctorateprogramme, and Masters by research, who are studying on-campus asfull-time students. These highly competitive scholarships are awardedto students with excellent academic records (Honours 1 or a Mastersdegree with a high level of research) and/or publications and researchexperience.

Tuition fees
The International Postgraduate Research Scholarship (IPRS) covers thecost of tuition fees for international students enrolled in a researchdoctorate or a Masters by research.

Travel
These provide funds for travel and accommodation to undertake research,present a paper at a conference or to spend time at another institutionto undertake training in a research methodology or technique. These areavailable to higher degree and Honours students.

Honours
These provide financial support for honours students in financial need.

Research
These provide funds to meet research expenses.
