Applications are invited from graduates with an interest in joiningAston Biomaterials Research Unit to work on a project relating to thedevelopment of novel foamed hydrogel polymers for use in wound careapplications. The project is part of wider research carried out inconjunction with a UK-based company whose activities relate sheethydrogel technology for biomedical applications.

Successful applicants will join a friendly, active and successfulresearch team led by Professor Brian Tighe working on severalbiomaterials-related research projects. There are regular opportunitiesto attend overseas and UK-based Research Conferences with the group andto develop interests and contacts in the rapidly expanding field ofbiomaterials.

The tax-free stipend is based on the current EPSRC studentship ratesplus a supplement of £3000 per annum. The total will be not less than£15,000 per annum. Applicants for the 3 year position must have a firstor upper-second class degree or MSc in a chemical,biological/biochemical, or materials-related discipline.

The project is part of work funded by a majorUS-based multi-national company directed to the understanding of thebehaviour of tears in disease states and in contact lens wear.
