PhD student
TheSection Environmental Fluid Mechanics of the Faculty of CivilEngineering and Geosciences of Delft University of Technology carriesout a long-term research program on the behavior of cohesive sediment(mud) in the natural environment. Part of this work is dedicated to theformation and break-up of mud flocs as a function of thephysico-chemical conditions, which is carried out in the form oflaboratory experiments and modeling of population dynamics.
We start a new project, financed by STW, the Dutch TechnologyFoundation, focusing on bimodal floc size distributions, for which welook for motivated candidates with a background in physics orengineering.
Requirements
Required education/skills: University Graduate
The PhD-candidate has affinity with experimental work. The candidatewill work within the Section of Environmental Fluid Mechanics with alarge team of senior scientists and PhD-students. Our laboratory iswell-equipped with, amongst other things, a large settling columnspecially built for research on flocculation.
