PhD scholarships in health economics: Centrefor Health Economics, Monash University, Melbourne or National Centre forSocial and Economic Modelling, University of Canberra

Location: Melbourne or Canberra, Australia

Candidates are invited to apply for a studentship to work withProfessor Jeff Richardson and Associate Professor Anthony Harris (CHE)or Professor Ann Harding (NATSEM). Successful candidates will enrollfor a PhD at Monash University or the University of Canberra.

The studentships are associated with a nationally funded 5 yearresearch program into Modelling the Economic of the Australian HealthCare System for policy analysis

The program also includes a number of international collaboratorssuch as Professor Peter Smith (University of York) and Jim Burgess(University of Boston).

The value of the studentship includes a standard national level ofmaintenance award and payment of University tuition fees. The twoCentres may also provide additional stipends to suitable students aswell the opportunity for part time research and teaching employment.

Candidates should have, or be about to complete, a Masters degree ineconomics or health economics. The PhD thesis topic will be directlyrelated to the research program of microsimulation, and the creation ofeconomic models of the health system for policy analysis.
