The PhD programme at ITU puts great emphasis on thequality of the PhD studies. PhD students can expect to be part of ascientific environment with great emphasis on collaboration anddevelopment. This is done by offering PhD courses of high internationalstandard and the possibility of establishing international contacts atrelevant conferences and by spending a semester abroad.

Applicantsare expected to have a solid background in a relevant field such asComputer Science, Engineering, Social Sciences or the Humanities.

Thesuccessful applicant will be an excellent student capable of conductingresearch under supervision at the highest international level. Boththree- and four-year scholarships are available (see furtherinformation below).

ThePhD scholarships run for a period of three or four years depending onthe educational level of the student. A three-year scholarship can onlybe awarded to applicants with a Master degree, equivalent to a Danishgraduate degree. Students with the equivalence of a Danish bachelordegree and one additional year of master studies transferable to one ofthe Master of IT programmes at ITU can be awarded a four-yearscholarship. Appointment and salary will be in accordance with theagreement between the Ministry of Finance and the Danish Confederationof Professional Associations (AC). Applicants must be able to documentthat they will be able to fulfil the requirements before entering thePhD programme.

The three-year scholarship pays approximately20,000 DKK per month exclusive of superannuation. The four-yearscholarship pays approximately 13,000 DKK per month for the first 2years. For the last two years the monthly sum amounts to approximately20,000 DKK. The salary is taxable.

To be awarded a scholarshiprequires enrolment as a PhD student, which is based on an application.A committee within the field in question will assess the applicationssubmitted.
