The Telecommunication Research Centre in the Department of Electronic and Computer Engineering at the University of Limerick currently has a PhD position in Wireless Communication Networks and Protocols, funded by SFI Basic Research Grant 2004 scheme.
The work on this project involves a study and a development of the protocols for Always Best Connected and Served (ABC&S) paradigm realisation in future 4G wireless communication networks.

The Telecommunication Research Centre in the Department of Electronic and Computer Engineering at the University of Limerick currently has a PhD position in Wireless Communication Networks and Protocols, funded by SFI Basic Research Grant 2004 scheme.
The work on this project involves a study and a development of the protocols for Always Best Connected and Served (ABC&S) paradigm realisation in future 4G wireless communication networks.
The successful candidate should have a MEng degree (or a first class honours basic degree), solid background in the wireless mobile communications (especially communication protocols) and also have a demonstrated ability to publish and be pro-active in publishing scientific results in the relevant international journals and conferences. MEng students expecting early graduation (e.g. before the end of 2004) may also apply. The successful candidate should be familiar with 2.5G, 3G and beyond 3G protocol issues, and have a flair for design and implementation of protocols for mobile networking, such as policy-based management protocols, AAA protocols, and protocol structures to enable ABC&S. Knowledge of QoS and mobility management in mobile wireless environments would be an advantage. All qualified candidates are invited to apply ASAP.

PhD scholarship (Euro 12,700 per annum) and fees will be paid. PhD scholarship is not taxable.
