In celebration of its centennial in 2005, KoreaUniversityestablishes Global KU Study Abroad Scholarships 2004. Global KUScholarships 2004 aims to support future global leaders around theworld to study at Korea University. Only undergraduate Exchange andStudy Abroadstudents at Korea University, as non-degree candidates, are eligible toapplyfor Global KU Scholarships 2004.
GLOBAL KU STUDY ABROAD SCHOLARSHIPS

In celebration of its centennial in 2005, Korea Universityestablishes Global KU Study
Abroad Scholarships 2004. Global KUScholarships 2004 aims to support future global
leaders around the world to study at Korea University. Only undergraduate Exchange and Study Abroadstudents at Korea University, as non-degree candidates, are eligible to applyfor Global KU Scholarships 2004.
I. Global KU Study Abroad Scholarshipsincludes:
1.Admission Scholarship: KRW300,000 permonth for the first semester (4 months)
2.KU Travel Scholarship: designed to assiststudents meet basic travel costs, a one-off payment of up to a maximum of U$1,000according to distance and currency rate
3.Merit Scholarship: awarded on the basisof academic merit of the first semester, KRW300,000 per month for a second semester (4months). Only applicable to exchange/study abroad students who participate inone-year program.
II. Conditions of Global KU Study AbroadScholarships:
1.Admission and KU Travel Scholarships areawarded on the basis of academic merit at the applicants' home institutions.
2.Faculty/ Institution/ National quotas mayapply.
3.Continuing students are automaticallyconsidered for Merit Scholarship. Students who extend the duration of their study at Korea Universityfrom one semester to two semesters are eligible to apply for ‘MeritScholarship' at the time of approval on extension.
4.Funding for the scholarships is subjectto availability.
III. Eligibility
To be eligible, Exchange and Study Abroadstudents at Korea University, an undergraduate applicant must:
1.be enrolled in an acknowledgedinstitution outside of Korea, in a country that is
recognized by Korean government as of December 1, 2003.
2.have completed, or are about to completeat least one year of study at their home
universities at the time of applying
3.have an overall weighted average of atleast 75% at their home institutions
4.have applied for one-year exchange orstudy abroad at Korea University
5.have a good command of either English orKorean; English in order to take courses
taught in English (10-30% of all courses) atKorea University, and Korean in order to take regular Korea Universitycourses taught in Korean
6.apply for only one of Admission and KUTravel Scholarships at the time of applying
IV. Required Documents
□ Global KUStudy Abroad Scholarships Application From (attached)
□ Two passportsize photos
□ Original copyof an official academic transcript issued by Home institution
□ Sealedrecommendation form filled by a dean or a person of higher position at Home institution with a signature of the Rector/President of Home Institution (attached)
□ Statement ofpurpose or Study plan at Korea University (no more than 500 words)
□ Evidence ofhealth/medical insurance for the staying period in Korea, authorised copy of an insurance certificate will be accepted
□ A photocopy ofthe applicant's passport
□ Authorisedcopies of official language tests, such as TOEFL, ILETS, Korean Language
Proficiency Test etc.
V. Important Notice
1.All documents must be written in English.Please attach translations in English if the
documents are in any other languages.
2.Documents submitted with the applicationwill not be returned to the applicant.
