The 21st Century COE (Center of Excellence) program of NagaokaUniversity of Technology (NUT) established an ongoing COE-Scholarshipfund. It will offer the opportunity to sustain research activities tohighly potential PhD-course-students from overseas.

(1) Benefits and conditions

       1. Tuition fee (535,800 yen/year) is exempted for 3 years.
       2. Admission fee (282,000 yen) is defrayed by NUT COE Fund.
       3. Start-up fund for COEScholarship Students is provided by NUT COEFaculty     Fund.
       4. The scholarship providesmonthly allowances of approximately 100,000 yen; and more, if thestudent's performance is highly evaluated.
       5. Number of grantees: 10 persons per year.
       6. Scholarship period: From April, 2006 to March, 2009.

(2) Eligibility

       1. Be interested in the major fields of our COE Program.
       2. Hold Master's degree orequivalent, or expect to obtain Master's degree by the end of March,2006.
       3. Be under 40 years old as of April 1, 2006.
       4. Be NOT in military service.

If you are interested in the COE scholarship and wish to apply for it, follow the instructions below;

       1. To begin with, email Secretary,COE immediately at coegreen@vos.nagaokaut.ac.jp and show your interestin COE program.
       2. Fill in Curriculum Vitae (form provided) and email it to coegreen@vos.nagaokaut.ac.jp.
       3. Send Academic Record,Certificate of Master�fs degree, and Copy of Master�fs thesis andpublications [Item 2., 3., 4., and 5. in (2) Documents to be submittedon the page of Application Procedure] in order to reach us not laterthan December 9, 2005.
       4. We will send results of thefirst screening to the successful candidates by December 31, 2005 andinform them of the next procedures.

APPLICATION PROCEDURE FOR ADMISSION TO THE DOCTORAL PROGRAM IN THE GRADUATE SCHOOL OF ENGINEERING

(1) Application deadline
    For the first screening: December 9, 2005
    For the final screening: January 26, 2006

(2) Documents to be submitted
       1. Application Form for Admission (with a photograph of the applicant)
          The photographshould have been taken within the last 3 months, frontal upper body andhatless, 40 X 30 mm. Leave"Preferred Course", "Preferred Professor orAssociate Professor", or "Preferred Field of Study" blank, if you arenot certain. (form provided)
       2. Academic Record of undergraduate and master programs
          (with the institution's authorized stamp or signature)
       3. Certificate of Master's degree or statement that confirms expected graduation
          (with the institution's authorized stamp or signature)
       4. Copy of Master's thesis
          An applicant whoexpects to complete the degree must submit the thesis title andprogress report on his/her study. (form not provided)
       5. Copy of publications (International/Regional Journal), if any
       6. Application Document (form provided)
       7. Certificate of Health (completed and signed by the examining physician)
          The applicantshould have been examined within 3 months of application. (formprovided)
       8. 2 photographs (40 X 30mm)
       9. Passport copy
          The applicantshould submit copies of the cover and the pages with his/her name,nationality, photograph and date of birth on.

    NOTE: Documents will not be returned and no changeregarding the contents of the documents will be accepted except changeof the applicant's address or telephone number.

(3) Submission of application documents
    The applicant should send these documents byregistered express mail. Write "Application Forms for COE (Green)Scholarship" on the envelope and address them to Kyoko SUGIMOTO,Secretary, COE (Green Energy Revolution).

(4) Screening
    The screening will be done on the basis of Curriculum Vitae and the application documents.

(5) Notification of Acceptance
    February 23, 2006
    
    The successful scholarship recipients will receiveformal notification of acceptance from both Section of EntranceExamination, NUT and COE (Green Energy) Program by post and by email.
