Italy: PhD Studentships in Economics and Management, International Studies, University of Trento
The University of Trento, one of Italy’s most highly ranked public universities in the social sciences1,is now inviting applications from qualified candidates for the following two three-year doctoralprogrammes:
PhD Programme in Economics and Management
The Doctoral School in Economics and Management offers research training in the fields of decisionsciences, organizational behaviour, human and natural resource management and behavioural andexperimental economics. The school is organized through CIFREM, the Interdepartmental Centre forResearch in Economics and Management, which coordinates the research activities of theDepartments of Economics and Management. The programme is built around three fields ofspecialization: Behavioural Economics, Organisation and Management, and EnvironmentalEconomics and Mountain Resource Management. The initial coursework year consists of 15compulsory courses. Students follow a common core curriculum in the first two terms andspecialised courses in the third term. The second and third years involve seminar participation,tutorials and a dissertation. It is possible to spend up to one year working abroad.
PhD Programme in International Studies
This highly structured multidisciplinary programme is composed of a minimum of 200 hours ofcoursework. Students follow a common curriculum in International studies, methodology, researchdesign and history, and attend advanced seminars in their major and minor subjects, chosen fromamongst the disciplines of Economics, Law, and Politics & Society. The coursework is concentratedin the first year, with the third semester being devoted to the completion of the research proposal..At least one semester must be spent abroad for research. Students who intend to carry out researchin the following areas are particularly encouraged to apply: European integration; international andEuropean history; multi-level governance, trans-Atlantic relations, International Crime. Both doctoral programmes are conducted entirely in English and will be taught by members of theuniversity’s multi-national faculty. No tuition fees are charged and a number of fully funded three-yearscholarships will be awarded to the top-ranked applicants. Scholarships will be augmented by 50% forauthorised research periods spent abroad. At least 50% of the admitted candidates will be offeredscholarships.
