Scholarship for attendance of a PhD program in Management, Economics andIndustrial engineering: Studies on the economics and financing ofhigh-tech start-ups and related policy measures, Politecnico di Milano

There is a vacant scholarship for a PhD-student at the Department ofManagement, Economics, and Industrial Engineering of Politecnico diMilano relating to studies in the economics and financing of high-techstart-ups and connected policy measures. The scholarship is part of aresearch program funded by the Italian Ministry of University andResearch and the European Commission through the Network of ExcellencePRIME; the research program is directed by professor Massimo G. Colombo.

The scholarship is for three years. It will start on 1-1-2007. Itincludes a mandatory period (minimum 6 months) to be spent in a foreignacademic institution. It is reserved to highly-qualified Englishspeaking candidates (Italian speaking is not mandatory). The net amountof the scholarship is 826 EURO per month (1.212 EURO per month in thesemester spent abroad). The amount of the scholarship can be increased(about +50%) through participation in the teaching activities atundergraduate, master and MBA/Executive level of the Department and incontract research activities.

The successful candidate must have a Master degree in a relevant socialscience or technical discipline (at least five year-universityeducation). He/she must have strong interests in applied research ineconomics, management and/or finance. A quantitative background isappreciated. The Department offers opportunities to attend conferences,to meet and interact with international researchers, and to presentpreliminary work in high-quality discussion workshops.
