IMT, Institutions, Markets, Technologies, Institute for AdvancedStudies Lucca, is an open, competitive Graduate School with aninternational Faculty designed to attract talented students andscholars on an international basis. IMT is located in Lucca
(Tuscany, Italy).

IMT focuses on institutional and technological change and aims torealize a strong integration between research and education, combiningtheoretical grounding and problem solving techniques.

I personally coordinate the PhD Program in Economics, Markets,Institutions. This Program provides a systematic analysis of thefunctioning of markets and industries in a global context, with aspecific focus on comparative institutional studies and competitionpolicy, as well as the impact of macroeconomic policy on productivityand growth. The program also focuses on processes of institutional andregulatory reform through political economy, market liberalization andsupra-national market integration. The interaction between theory andpractice is one of the main features of the program. Analytical modelsand techniques are challenged through the systematic investigation ofreal world phenomena and case studies. Graduates analyze, design andmanage programs within economic institutions, regulatory agencies andmultinational companies.

The duration of the PhD Program is 3 years. Classes start in January 2006. Courses and seminars are held in English.

15 Scholarships are in competition for each of our PhD programs, of which 8 are full and 7 are partial.The annual grant for students with full scholarship amountsapproximately 10.560,00 Euros. All students are exempt from tuitionfees.
