Italy: Doctoral Scholarship in Political Systems and Institutional Change
Competitions are open for admission to PhD Programs at IMT (Institutions Markets Technologies).
Deadline for application is November 22nd, 2005. Courses start in January 2006.
The Doctoral Program make students familiar with the analytical tools elaborated within the main traditions of contemporary social sciences and give theoretical and practical knowledge either to comparatively evaluate the performance of the various institutional systems and to elaborate proposals for their improvement. The courses especially focus on historical, political, institutional and economic dynamics, that after the Second Word War have been characterizing the development of European and ex Soviet countries, on theoretical and practical analysis of institutional and decisional dynamics of European Union, and on deep knowledge of EU-USA relationships as well as of institutional working of international organizations.
The main goal of doctoral program is to form a political analyst holding deep and up-to-date knowledge in various fields, among which political and institutional theory, law and political economy, able to plan and manage collaborative and integrated processes at the international level. The political analyst must hold all theoretical and practical skills and tools in order to carry on policy analysis and proposals on supranational, regional and domestic levels, also relating to countries in transition toward democratic political systems and competitive economic systems.
This profile can be placed as an executive/official in public organizations at regional, national and supranational level, as well as in private enterprises and specialized research institutions. In these organizations he/she is able to understand and manage interactive and two-way processes between public and private sphere.
