Applied Simulation as a Decision Support System Tool to ImproveDelivery, Cost Effectiveness and Service Quality in Hospitals
School of Management is seeking to appoint high-quality PhD student tostart his/her study in October / November 2006. This studentship,funded by Postgraduate R & D Skills Programme, is available at DublinInstitute of Technology.This interdisciplinary project involves the study of the internaldynamics of hospitals as an environment of uncertainty, variabilityand limited resources. The aim is to deliver simulation andoptimisation decision support tool to the healthcare sector to improvedelivery, cost effectiveness and service quality in critical areassuch as Accidents and Emergency (A&E). This project requires anenthusiastic candidate with interests in management, engineering andstatistics. We welcome applications from suitable qualified studentsfrom across the world. The full award is open to Ireland, EU andoverseas students and covers the fees a tax-free maintenance grantstarting at €12,500 per annum.Candidates should possess a first or upper second class honours degreein management, engineering or a related discipline and available forinterview in Dublin. The successful candidate must be able to take upthe studentship by 1st November 2006.
