Industrial Technology R&D Master Program for 2005-2006 Foreign Students, NTU, Taiwan
As the most prestigious institution of highereducation in Taiwan with the longest history and most diverse academicprograms, National Taiwan University has taken up the responsibility ofpromoting and advancing academic research and teaching in Taiwan. The Department of Electrical Engineering(NTUEE) was first established in 1945. Since then it has been expandedto four Graduate Institutes: Electrical Engineering, CommunicationEngineering, Electronics Engineering, and Electro-Optical Engineering.The research fields include communication and signal processing,control, computer science, power system, nano-electronics,electromagnetic waves, electro-optics, biomedical engineering,integrated circuit and systems and electronic design automation. Thedepartment not only provides a perfect research environment withrenowned faculty, but also brings in many top students.
This program is jointly operated by the Graduate Institutes ofElectrical Engineering, Communication Engineering, and ElectronicsEngineering . Effectively combining the top teaching resources andabundant course offerings, this program has the potential toeffectively enhance industrial research and internationalcompetitiveness.
◎ The Program:
In order to promote scientific and technological competitiveness, thisprogram supports the innovation and development of technologicalindustries in Taiwan. Approved by the Ministry of Economic Affairs andthe Ministry of Education, this program, led by both NTU andcooperating industrial partners, will train international students inthese fields and encourage the cooperative partners to offer jobopportunities to outstanding students.
◎ Program Schedule:
Maximum of two years.
◎Program Size:
20 students.
◎ Qualifications:
Applicants must meet all of the following criteria.
- Foreign student admission is only for applicants who do not have theoverseas Chinese status and do not hold a Republic of China passport. 【Applicants who hold Hong Kong or Macau citizen status are not eligible.】 A foreign national who held R.O.C. nationality within the past eightyears is not eligible for application. The provision specified in thepreceding paragraph "eight years" is from the date of the officialrenouncement of R.O.C. nationality to the beginning date of the term(until September, 19, 2005) in which the applicant intends to seekadmission.
- Applicants must hold a bachelor's degree or equivalent by Sept. 2005 from a foreign university or independent institute.
- TOEFL is required for applicants from non-English speaking countries.
﹡ Note: Foreign students who have already completed a degree program orhave been expelled by a university or college in ROC are not eligibleto re-apply for this admission. Any violation immediately results incancellation of admission or the loss of recognition as NTU registeredstudent.
◎ Financial Aid:
The program costs and fees are partially subsidized by the Ministry of Economic Affairs and the Ministry of Education.
- Tuition: waived. However, the students are responsible for theremaining expenses (including the transportation, books, dormitory,living expenses, etc.).
- Living expenses: NTD 8000 (approx. USD 250) stipend per month toward living expenses for a total of twenty-one months.
- Fellowship: NTD 8000 (approx. USD 250) per month research scholarship for 10 students.
