Description
For the 2005-2006 academic year, three to four appointments will bemade for the program. Award
The program provides financial assistance to advanced graduate studentswho have demonstrated (1) superior academic ability and achievement;(2) exceptional promise; and (3) a strong interest in the field ofeducational measurement and related disciplines. The fellow'suniversity will receive funding to pay the fellow a stipend of $15,000.The university will also receive an educational allowance of $7,500 todefray tuition, fees, and work study program commitments. Theuniversity may request a small grant for the purchase of equipment orsoftware, if needed to facilitate work on the fellow's researchproject. Fellows who participate in the Summer Program will receive astipend of $5,000 for the two-month period and reasonable round-tripreimbursement for travel to Princeton according to the ETS travelpolicy. ETS will pay no direct costs.
Who Should Apply
Both national and international students are welcome to apply. At thetime of application, candidates must be enrolled in a doctoral programand have completed a minimum of two years of full-time study toward thePh.D.
How to Apply
A two-stage application process is used. 1) Preliminary applicationâ€â€applicantsshould submit a letter of interest accompanied by a curriculum vita anda nomination letter from the prospective academic advisor in support ofthe applicant's interest in the fellowship. A selection committee willreview the materials and a small number of applicants will be asked toproceed to the second stage of the process. 2) Final applicationâ€â€applicantsshould submit a detailed project description of the research that theindividual will carry out at the host university along with allacademic transcripts to date. Applicants are invited to submitpresentations, manuscripts, etc., as evidence of scholarship. The topicof research must correlate with research currently under way at ETS. Itmay be part of a larger project directed by the fellow's academicadvisor, and the larger project may be funded by another source (e.g.,NSF, Department of Education). Thesis research is acceptable.
Selection
Selection will be based on the strength of the applicant's academic credentials and suitability of the research project.
Deadline
Preliminary nominations/applications must be postmarked by December 1,2004. Final application materials must be postmarked by February 14,2005.
Decision
Notification for first application decision will be sent via e-mail by December 15, 2004.Final notification will be sent by March 31, 2005.
