Germany: PhD/Postdoc Position at RWTH Aachen
The development and analysis of numerical methods along with the relevanttheoretical foundations for a wide range of problem classes is a centralresearch area at the IGPM (Institut fr Geometrie und Praktische Mathematik).
These activities are closely intertwined with current interdisciplinaryresearch projects with partners from engineering sciences, e.g., CollaborativeResearch Center CRC540 "Model-based experimental analysis of kinetic phenomenain fluid multi-phase reactive systems". Within this CRC we want to employ ascientific researcher (PhD or Postdoc).
The position gives the opportunity to work in a highly motivatedinterdisciplinary team on a topic on the cutting-edge of applied mathematicsand scientific computing.
Project summary: The project concerns the development and implementation ofnumerical methods for the simulation of two-phase incompressible flows. Thecandidate becomes a member of a team that is working on the development of asolver (DROPS, cf. http://www.igpm.rwth-aachen.de/DROPS) that is used for thenumerical simulation of two-phase flows that are considered in CRC540.
The candidate should have a strong background in the numerical analysis ofpartial differential equations. We can offer a full PhD/Postdoc positionwhich can be filled immediately. The salary is according to BAT IIa.
Employment equity is one of our goals. We also welcome applications frompersons with disabilities.
