Germany: PhD Studentships in Modeling of Phase Transfer in Multiphase Particles, The Leibniz Institute for Tropospheric Research
The Leibniz-Institute for Tropospheric Research (IfT) intensifies its experimental and theoretical research in the fields of cloud physics and the interactions between aerosol and clouds. In this context we are looking for a PhD student for the project
Modeling of Phase Transfer in Multiphase Particles.
Applicants should have a university degree in natural sciences or chemical engineering and ideally have a strong background in thermodynamics, heterogeneous chemistry or related disciplines. The objective of the project is the development and implementation of appropriate models for the description of multiphase processes for atmospheric aerosol.
The candidate should be interested in theoretical problems and be able to implement appropriate solution approaches in computer programs. Among other applications, the developed models will be used for the interpretation of experiments performed at the Leipzig Aerosol and Cloud Interaction Simulator (LACIS). Knowledge of FORTRAN or/and C programming is required. It is mandatory that the candidate is fluent in written and spoken English. We are offering the possibility to work in an interdisciplinary team, at one of the most renowned atmospheric research institutes and in one of the most attractive cities in Germany.
The position is limited to three years. The salary level is according to German public service regulation (TV-L 13 O/2). Female researchers are especially encouraged to apply.
